Summary of Codes and Conventions research

In conclusion, the codes and conventions that we plan to use are:

  • A twist within the storyline - we would like to do this as it will make our plot more interesting and the audience's attention will be more likely maintained throughout the short film.
  • A voiceover - we may have a voiceover at certain parts of our short film to make it clear to the audience what is going on as we are planning to have little or no dialogue.
  • To convey a message/emotion - In our short film we plan to portray the journey of money; conveying the message that not everything is as it seems.
  • Non-studio locations - As we don't have a budget we will use non-studio locations such as alley ways and supermarkets to shoot our short film. We feel this would be more effective in our genre of social realism because real life locations are more naturalistic to shoot in.
  • Amateur actors - We will be using amateur actors within our film not only because we don't have a budget, but also because the acting will be more naturalistic than it would be with proffessionals; fitting in with out genre of social realism.
These are the main codes and conventions we will be focusing on within our short film, however we may include other aspects that we have already spoken about.
