codes and conventions of paranormal activity review

This film review page includes a large image; a still shot taken from the film. This is a generic convention in film magazine reviews as it gives a small spoiler of the film and as it's one of the first things the reader sees, enticing them to read the remainder of the review.

The title of the film is large, bold and in capitals. This makes the title stand out; a code and convention within film reviews as it again attracts the reader and makes them want to read the review if they see it's about a popular or well-known film.

The tagline is in a contrasting colour to the heading potentially because it makes the heading stand out more as well as making it clear this is a tagline and not part of the heading. It gives the reader additional information about what the film is like, as well as being slightly comical. Having a comical or witty tagline is a code and convention of film reviews as it makes the reader want to read on.

The review is laid out in 4 columns. The text informs the audience about key moments in the film and discusses whether the film is effective in what it intends to do. It also evaluates the positives and negatives of the film. This is a code and convention within film reviews because it gives the reader the chance decide whether they would like the film or not as they get to hear from both points of view what people's opinion of the film are.

The pull-quote is written in a different coloured text to the rest of the writing and is larger. This catches the eye of the reader because it potentially makes them want to read the actual text of the review as they have seen an interesting quote included in it.
